From where theyâre legal to how they interact with your body, letâs talk about these compounds and what they do.
Even though CBD is an essential part of medical marijuana, itâs derived directly from the hemp plant, a sort of cousin to the marijuana plant. Both plants are from the same species, but only CBD products derived from hemp plants are federally legal at the moment and may only contain 0.3% or less of THC.
So what is CBD? CBD, or cannabidiol, was discovered in the 1940s and is the second most prevalent chemical compound found in cannabis. Just like THC, CBD is absorbed by the body through cannabis-friendly receptors called the endocannabinoid system. This system contributes to all kinds of functions from your sleep cycle to your immune system and even reproductive health. Unlike THC, however, CBD is not psychoactive.
The benefits of CBD that you might experience vary from person to person. Since everyoneâs body is different, itâs important to recognize that it could take time and adjustment to different products to see what works best for you. There is a wide range of CBD products available ranging from CBD oils to CBD creams to bath bombs that can make your bath rituals extra special.
CBD sounds great, but then what is THC? THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (weâll stick to calling it THC, thanks đ), is the main star of the marijuana world. Itâs the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis and has been suggested for potential both recreational and medicinal properties for thousands of years.
The intensity of the effects of THC may be influenced by the entourage effect. The entourage effect is a theory suggesting that different cannabis compounds work together to create unique effects and benefits at various levels.
THC is often ingested by smoking or vaping marijuana but can also be found in products like edibles, capsules, and oils.
Okay so now we know what they are, so what are the differences between CBD and THC? Itâs the differences between these two compounds that affect how theyâre used, where theyâre detectable, and how they interact with your body.
Some of the differences between CBD and THC include:
We canât kick off discussing the differences between CBD and THC without talking about how and where theyâre legal. At this time, CBD products are federally legal when theyâre derived directly from the hemp plant and contain 0.3% or less of THC. Laws vary by state, however, so be sure to check with local state laws before purchasing or traveling with CBD.
Legal THC is most closely tied to marijuana legalization. While laws continue to change and evolve around it, 19 states and the District of Columbia have legalized the adult use of marijuana for recreational purposes while 37 states, 3 territories and the District of Columbia allow the medical use of cannabis products.
As you explore CBD products, you will see both broad spectrum and full spectrum products available. Broad spectrum CBD vs full spectrum CBD simply refers to CBD with THC vs without. Broad spectrum products are completely THC-free, while full spectrum may contain up to the federal maximum 0.3% THC.
Note: The laws for CBD products can vary by type of product, as well. While many states allow both broad and full spectrum CBD products, others are more restrictive on CBD with THC vs without.Â
Next on our list of the differences between CBD and THC is if they may show up on a drug test. If youâre using THC products (marijuana products), drug tests can detect THC in urine, blood, and hair for many days after use. But what about CBD?
Broad spectrum CBD alone will not show up on a drug test since most are designed to detect THC breakdowns. Broad spectrum products entirely remove THC during the extraction process. With that in mind, itâs important to note that some CBD products, like our full spectrum CBD tincture, may contain trace amounts of THC (>0.3%) as permitted by law.
We recommend using full spectrum CBD products at your own risk if you take drug tests regularly. While it may not typically show up, this will depend on how frequently you use it and the dosage being consumed.
Beyond where theyâre legal and how they might show up on drug tests, CBD and THC also have molecular differences that affect how they interact with your body. While both have chemical structures that are similar to the body's natural endocannabinoids, they differ in how they bind to different receptors to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters.
In fact, some studies suggest that CBD may actually lessen the effects of THC on the brain.
Last (but definitely not least!) when it comes to the differences between CBD and THC is what theyâre commonly used for. While research is ongoing to determine the potential benefits of CBD and THC, there are a variety of different reasons people use each of them.
Some of the most common health issues people look to the potential benefits of CBD for include:
While there are some instances of overlap in how people use CBD and THC, the latter is also sometimes considered for possible treatment of health conditions like:
Before choosing either, consider the differences between CBD and THC and what effects youâre hoping to achieve. Depending on your location and local laws, CBD is most often easier to integrate into your daily rituals and popular due to its lack of psychoactive properties. This leaves you mentally clear and ready to take on the day!
We hope this guide to the differences between CBD and THC has been informative and given you things to consider. When it comes to CBD products vs THC, each person will react differently, so taking the time to try different products, dosages, and ingestion methods to determine what works best for you (and follows your local laws) is best to support your lifestyle.
]]>Weâll walk you through what CBD topicals are and how theyâre used below. As always, if you have any questions you can shoot us an email.
Before we answer the question, âhow do CBD topicals work?â letâs talk about what they are. CBD topicals can be a wide variety of things from luxurious skin creams to CBD bath bombs that make your relaxing bath ritual even better. You may also come across different CBD topicals like lip balms.
Even though full spectrum products do exist, most CBD topicals are broad spectrum, meaning they contain absolutely no THC. (learn more about broad spectrum CBD vs full spectrum CBD after this đ)
Simply put, CBD topicals are any products infused with CBD that can be applied directly to the skin. Kinda ups the game, doesnât it?
Thereâs a number of things CBD topicals can potentially help with, in no short order:
People add CBD to their daily rituals for different reasons. Sometimes they need a little boost to kickstart the day, or theyâre looking for relief while unwinding after a long day. So how do CBD topicals work?
Before we get into how it works, thereâs a distinction between topicals like salves and topicals like creams.
Salves are typically oil-based, and contain a wax (often beeswax). Theyâre usually thicker and meant to be used on a smaller, more concentrated surface like your knee, rather than, say, up your full arm.
Creams and lotions are typically water-based, so theyâre thinner and creamier like your typical lotion, absorb faster, and are better at moisturizing
Instead of absorbing into your bloodstream the way CBD may when taken orally, topical products like CBD creams allow it to penetrate the dermal and subdermal layers of skin. Reaching further than the surface of your skin, the CBD binds to cell receptors in muscle tissue, skin and nerves. This makes CBD topicals popular for targeted use in people seeking potential relief from achy muscles and inflammation.
There are more potential benefits of CBD topicals depending on how theyâre produced.High-quality CBD topical creams may also have other active ingredients to help you take care of your body. The hello amber Silver Linings CBD cream, for example, contains organic aloe vera juice for protecting your skin from pollution and restoring dry skin as you use it.
Okay, weâve talked about how CBD topicals work, but what's the difference between a CBD topical vs oral products like edibles and oils? When youâre debating between CBD topicals and oil or edible options, you should consider what youâre wanting to use it for. The unique differences in how each absorbs into your body can determine which is right for you.
As we mentioned, CBD topicals let the cannabidiol compounds attach to cell receptors in muscle tissue, skin and nerves where the topical cream is applied. These kinds of CBD products may be best for people looking for targeted relief. That said, CBD topicals like skin cream can be applied whenever you like such as when you wake up, before you go to sleep (to support a more restful, calm snooze), post-workout, after a bath/shower, and all the little moments in between.
CBD oils and edibles are taken orally (eaten or sublingually), which gives them higher bio-availability than topicals. Bio-availability refers to the amount and rate of CBD absorbed into your bloodstream. Even though CBD oils and edibles may sound like the right choice at first, itâs important to consider that their potential effects will be spread throughout the body instead of more concentrated like CBD topicals. This small-but-important difference in how CBD is absorbed into the body can make all the difference when it comes to which is best for what you want.
We hope this guide has helped answer your question, âhow do CBD topicals work?â and given you some food for thought when it comes to picking your CBD products. Since CBD affects everyone differently, itâs important to try different products, dosages, and CBD rituals to see what works best for you, and when. Whether itâs a CBD bath bomb for the deep relaxation or daily use of a CBD skin cream, CBD topicals can be a great addition to your self care tool belt.]]>Need a visual TLDR;? If youâre new to CBD oil (welcome đ), you might be a little confused by the information you find floating around the internet. Truth be told, the laws regulating CBD oil and other CBD products are constantly in flux.
So, is CBD oil legal in all 50 states? In this guide, weâre answering this question and exploring the differences between CBD vs THC that could dictate which products are legal where youâre located. Itâs important to remember that current state laws on CBD may change at any time, so please DYOR (do your own research) before looking to add CBD to your daily rituals.
Before you jump to add CBD oil to your daily rituals, itâs worth knowing the difference between CBD and THC. These differences can make a crucial difference in which products are legal in your state as well as how they interact with your body.
While CBD is a part of medical marijuana, itâs derived directly from the hemp plant, a sort of cousin to the marijuana plant. Even though both of these plants are from the same species, only CBD products derived from industrial hemp plants are federally legal at this time. Products like CBD oil must contain 0.3% or less of THC in order to fall under the rules of the 2018 Farm Bill.
THC, on the other hand, is the psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. While both THC and CBD have chemical structures that are similar to the body's natural endocannabinoids, they bind to receptors within your body differently to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters.
Another factor to consider as we answer the question, âis CBD oil legal in all 50 states?â is whether youâre looking at broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD. The difference between broad spectrum CBD vs full spectrum CBD is the presence of trace amounts of THC. Broad spectrum CBD oil is THC-free whereas full spectrum CBD products may contain up to 0.3% THC while still being legal at the federal level.
Now weâve gotten to the million-dollar question: is CBD legal in all 50 states? Unfortunately, itâs not a simple answer. In the United States, CBD is legal at the federal level and has been since the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (more commonly known as the 2018 Farm Bill). That said, the key point of that is that itâs legal at the federal level, but each state is able to determine its own laws and regulations for CBD products.
At the time of writing this guide, CBD is not fully illegal in any of the 50 states or Washington D.C. Not being fully illegal, however, doesnât mean there arenât still a handful of states where there are conditions around CBD products sold. For example, some states may allow all CBD products to be sold while others prohibit the sale of CBD edibles or full spectrum CBD products.
To guide you, at this time weâve broken states up into these three categories:
Want a visual TLDR;? Click here to jump down to our visual chart!
There are currently 19 states plus Washington D.C. which allow the legal purchase and use of both CBD oil and THC products such as recreational marijuana. They are:
In these states, you are able to purchase CBD oil, edibles, and other kinds of CBD products without issue. Itâs also legal to travel with CBD in these states.
While CBD and THC are legal in the 19 states (plus Washington D.C.) listed above, the majority of the remaining states allow for the legal purchase of CBD oil and other products so long as it falls under the legal limit of 0.3% THC or less. These states are:
You can also freely travel with CBD to these states at the time of writing this guide. Be mindful, though, that ââthe TSA has its own set of strict guidelines when it comes to what people can check in their luggage or bring on the plane with them. Check current guidelines before flying with CBD oil to avoid any awkward or stressful situations at the airport!
Last, but not least, comes the remaining five states that have conditionally legal status for CBD oil and other products. The rules for CBD oil and other products vary by state and could change at any time, so be extra careful when considering CBD products here. These states are:
Idaho and Kansas currently have identical CBD laws stating CBD oil is legal as long as it contains zero traces of THC. This means only broad spectrum CBD oil and CBD products are legal in these two states right now.
North Dakota is similar, allowing CBD oil and other products so long as they contain 0.1% THC or less. In effect, this means you should also only purchase broad spectrum CBD products to stay within the legal guidelines there at this time.
New Hampshire is interesting in that it allows CBD oil but has current rules against the sale or use of CBD edibles. This is a prime example of why you should always check on current state laws regarding CBD products as they could vary by type.
Finally, South Dakota makes our list. Currently, South Dakota allows legal use and purchase of CBD oil as long as it falls under the legal federal guidelines for THC. That said, this state has waffled back and forth a few times since the 2018 Farm Bill passed, meaning its status could change at any time to banning CBD products once more.
Is CBD oil legal in all 50 states? At the federal level, yes. That said, always check on your local state laws before purchasing CBD, traveling with CBD, or otherwise possessing CBD to ensure youâre within the current legal guidelines.
And yes, while we should consider ourselves lucky that we experience this every month, it doesnât take away from the pain we inevitably feel.
At the best of times, period cramps can just be slightly annoying, but bearable. At their worst though, they can stop you from doing the things you want to do, getting work done, or keeping up your daily routine.
So what helps with period cramps? Alongside more traditional methods like snacking on your favorite comfort food and a heating pad (we should seriously get automatic discounts on those), there are also other options like CBD for period cramps that could help.
Since we don't need to belabor the pain aspect of it, letâs dive in and talk about what helps with period cramps to keep your monthly friend from cramping your lifestyle.
Before jumping into talking about what helps with period cramps, what causes period pain? Period pain, medically called dysmenorrhea, can range from being mild to severe. It comes from the contraction of your uterus while shedding its lining during your period. Even though your uterus continuously contracts all the time, during your period these contractions are more intense, bringing on those lovely period cramps we deal with.
Since hello amber is a woman-owned business (thatâs me! đ), we feel your painâŚliterally. While having this happen every month can feel like an unbearable and unwelcome cycle, instead of getting frustrated, letâs use it as a time to give our body the attention and rest it needs.
Letâs honor it.
As a heads up: Severe menstrual cramps could be a sign of a more serious condition, though, so if youâre experiencing intense pain, be sure to talk to your doctor for their professional guidance.
Okay so: what helps with period cramps? Thatâs the million-dollar question, isnât it? Different techniques work for different people, so itâs all about finding what works best for you. Some common remedies for what helps with period cramps include things like:
Â
It feels like a bath can solve anything tbh, and one of our favorite period cramp remedies is taking a warm bath. Taking a relaxing bath is a great self-care activity that can clear your mind and ease menstrual cramps. Donât think you have to wait for that time of the month to enjoy one, though. We love adding bath rituals to our weekly routine to relax and unwindâgive that a shot.
Bonus Thought: Even if baths arenât your thing, scheduling time to just relax and *be* can help take the edge of period cramps. Donât be afraid to make the time and give yourself the care you need.
Â
Depending on your pain levels and lifestyle, being active might be the absolute last thing you wanna think about when when period cramps hit. That said, exercise for period cramps relief can sometimes be beneficial.
You donât have to go 0-100 at the gym. Instead, try calming exercises like yoga to stretch your muscles, loosen up your body, and experience the relaxing effects of different poses. The stretching and breathing can work wonders in grounding and centering you amongst the pain.
On top of relieving pain from menstrual cramps, exercise releases endorphins that can help with period mood swings. The natural pain-relieving properties of endorphins, these âfeel-goodâ hormones may elevate your mood and keep you thinking more clearly even through the most unbearable of periods.
Â
We love comfort foods as much as anyone, especially when we just feel like crawling into a ball, but did you know that what you eat can make a difference in how you feel? Before you reach for that bowl of ice cream, hear us out đ While it feels good in the moment, sugary foods like ice cream can actually make period cramps worse (sorry we're bursting your bubble). The best foods to eat on your period are anti-inflammatory choices as well as foods that lower estrogen levels naturally.
Next time the cramps set in, skip over the processed sugar-y foods and opt for lighter, refreshing foods like:
Â
Did you know you might be able to add acupuncture to your list of what helps with period cramps, too?
This Asian healing method is focused on relaxing your nervous system, allowing more blood to flow throughout the body and fighting inflammation. Studies have even been done that showed women experiencing period pain who used acupuncture as treatment had less pain compared to those using OTC medication or no treatment at all.
Now that weâve gone over the typical options for what helps with period cramps, what about newer methods you might not have tried yet? You may be familiar with some of the potential benefits of CBD oil and other products, but does CBD help with period cramps, too? While thereâs still research to be done, early signs point to the potential effectiveness of CBD for menstrual cramps.
Curious on how to start using CBD for menstrual cramps? There are loads of ways to get creative ranging from topical creams to adding CBD oil to your favorite snacks!
CBD creams are an easy go-to for using CBD for period cramps because you can add it right into your morning or evening ritual. The best CBD cream products may even have other ingredients like organic aloe vera juice to protect your skin from pollution and restore dry skin, as well.
CBD oils are one of the most popular products women are turning to when using CBD for menstrual cramps. These products can be taken orally or even easily added to your favorite foods. We love comfort food when dealing with period cramps, and CBD snacks recipes make it easy to combine the best of both worlds.
Not feeling snack-ish? Hot lemon tea is a relaxing drink to pair with mint-flavored CBD oil for a flavor combo you canât help but love.
Creams and oil arenât the only CBD period products to make our list of what helps with period cramps. While every person will react differently to taking CBD, you can also try things like gummies or adding a CBD bath bomb to deepen your relaxation experience. Try out different CBD products and see which works best for you to give you possible relief from your (what feels like endless) cycle.
Finding out what helps with period cramps can be a lifesaver. Weâve all experienced those period pains and the mood swings they bring with them, but taking the time to give your body what it needs could save you from some of the frustration. From relaxing bath rituals to comforting CBD snacks, try some of these out and donât let cramps cramp your lifestyle any more than they need to.
]]>While they might look a little intimidating at first, CBD lab test results are actually pretty easy to read once you know what youâre looking at (and looking for!). Read on to learn how to read CBD lab test results so you can know exactly what youâre purchasing.
Why should I read CBD lab test results, youâre wondering? Even though CBD products became legal at the federal level as part of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (sometimes called the Farm Bill of 2018), it left individual state policies in place at the state level. As laws and regulations are changing rapidly, CBD lab test results can help you ensure youâre following all the current local laws in your area.
They may also come in handy if youâre planning on traveling or flying with CBD, as TSA officials may not immediately recognize legal CBD products from other potential substances. Printing a copy of the third-party CBD lab test results for your favorite CBD oil or CBD edibles could save you from a stressful situation becoming unnecessarily worse.
Why else should you read CBD lab test results? Honestly, because you deserve to know exactly what is in the CBD products youâre adding to your daily ritual! Third-party CBD lab test results promote transparency and show you that the results donât have a conflict of interest by being handled solely in house. A CBD brand who sends their products out for independent CBD testing is showing faith in the quality of their products.
Now that youâve got an idea on *why* you should check out CBD lab test results for all your favorite CBD products, what exactly is it youâre going to be looking at? At first glance, CBD lab test results can look super intimidating. What are all these words I donât know and why do they matter, right?
To help you learn how to read CBD lab test results quickly and easily, weâre taking out all the mystery (jinkies!) and breaking it down into all the major categories youâll find:
It looks like a ton, right? Donât worry, weâve got you! Keep reading for a full breakdown of each item youâll find on your productâs CBD lab test results and what it means.
Okay, so right off the bat weâre not actually looking at a category as much as a column youâll find throughout CBD lab test results. The pass or fail status column lets you look quickly to make sure your favorite CBD product passed testing for the right ingredients at the right amounts. In lots of cases, itâs a quick indicator that your CBD product isnât contaminated with anything that shouldnât be in it and that the quality is there.
The next item you may find on the top sheet of CBD lab test results is the THC content for that product. While CBD products are legal at the federal level, they have strict requirements concerning THC contents. To be a legal CBD product, it must contain no more than 0.3% THC.
Depending on whether youâre checking out broad spectrum CBD vs full spectrum CBD products, you may see results showing trace amounts of THC or notations like N/D or ND meaning None Detected.Â
Next up on how to read CBD lab test results you may come across cannabinoids test results. CBD is a cannabinoid, but is just one of many cannabinoids that can be extracted from the hemp plant.
Depending on what type of CBD product youâre looking at test results for, you will see different results. For full spectrum CBD products, you may find a wide range of cannabinoids including THC within legal limits listed. Broad spectrum CBD lab test results may have a range of cannabinoids, but will not have THC detected.
Part of ensuring youâve got a high quality CBD product is making sure it passes the pesticide analysis test. Your CBD lab test results will show you how much, if any, of these chemicals are detected in your product results. If you see levels of pesticides shown, you should probably give that product your own âfailâ result and move on to another choice!
The microbial analysis section of CBD lab test results shows levels of potentially-harmful microbial organisms like salmonella, E. coli, yeasts, and molds. Be sure that any CBD product you choose passes these tests and shows below LOD (limit of detection) results.
Just like microbial organisms may pose a threat to your health, so could the presence of heavy metals in your CBD products. The heavy metals analysis page of CBD lab test results is meant to show you levels of known harmful heavy metals like arsenic, mercury, and lead. Make sure your favorite CBD products show results of below LOQ (limit of quantification) to be safe!
When youâre buying CBD products you expect to know the amounts of CBD youâre getting. Not only do you deserve to know what youâre getting, but we want you to know youâre getting the best from us! Finding potency and CBD content in your CBD lab test results helps you know exactly how much CBD is in your product.
Products like CBD tinctures with higher CBD concentrations will contain more CBD per drop than those with lower concentrations. Makes sense, right? Every person feels the effects of CBD differently, so looking into CBD lab test results for your favorite products can help you figure out what works best for you.
The best CBD products should have below LOQ results for chemical solvents. Products containing high levels of chemical solvents could actually pose a potential health risk. When you see the CBD lab test results show your CBD product passed inspection for chemical solvents, you can rest assured itâs safe.
Last up on our journey to demystify CBD lab test results is the terpene profile of CBD products. Terpenes are the compounds that make up the distinctive flavors and color of the final product. They may also provide potential benefits of their own. The CBD lab test results for each product should show which terpenes are present (and in what quantities).
We know that looking at long CBD lab test results can be a little scary at first. We hope this guide has taken some of the mystery out of looking at them and showed you how easy they can provide great information on products from your favorite CBD brand.
For full transparency, you can find hello amber CBD lab test results for each product right there on its page. If you have any questions, weâre always happy to help!

]]>But what are the benefits of CBD oil you may experience and whatâs the best method for adding it to your lifestyle?
Weâre addressing all that and more in this handy guide. đ
So, what is CBD oil anyway? CBD stands for cannabidiol and is derived directly from the hemp plant. CBD products in the United States became legal in all 50 states under the Farm Bill of 2018 so long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. (check out the difference between Broad Spectrum CBD vs Full Spectrum CBD after this)
CBD oil is CBD that has been extracted from the hemp plant and added to a carrier oil.
Carrier oils are plant-based fatty oils (like high quality virgin olive oil or sunflower oil) and are listed on a productâs list of ingredients. Since CBD is soluble in fats and oils, not water, the carrier oil allows CBD to dissolve, making it easier to use.
Important Note: The Hemp Farming Act included in the Farm Bill still provides states with the ability to oversee its legality at a state level, so itâs important to know your stateâs laws on CBD before purchasing or traveling with CBD.
The benefits of CBD oil that you might experience varies from person to person. Since everyoneâs body is different, itâs important to recognize that it might take a little time and adjustment to see what works best for you.
On to the potential benefits of CBD oil:
While there are no exact claims to the benefits of CBD oil, studies have been made observing its potential role in helping with various common health issues like:
While these make up the bulk of the potential benefits of CBD oil that many people look for, itâs also been considered for the potential to alleviate certain cancer symptoms.
A recent study also showed the potential benefits of CBD oil usage as linked to blood pressure reduction, lowering the overall risk of heart attack or stroke.
Some people may also seek the potential benefits of CBD oil for sleep. Recent studies have shown promising preliminary results for the potential of CBD oil to improve sleep-related disorders like sleep apnea, insomnia, and PTSD nightmares.
Now that youâve got a better understanding of the potential benefits of CBD, how do you take it? And when should you?
Finding out which products and rituals work best for your lifestyle may take a little adjusting, so thereâs no definitive answer to this question. It depends on how youâre taking CBD oil and which potential benefits youâre seeking.
That said, there are certain methods which could result in feeling the effects of CBD oil more quickly than others.
For the fastest metabolization, taking CBD oil sublingually (under your tongue) is ideal.
Instead of downing a dosage and swallowing, however, place your dose underneath your tongue and let it absorb naturally. This preserves more of the CBD in the carrier oil and allows it to enter into the bloodstream more quickly rather than being put through the digestive tract.
If taking CBD oil under your tongue doesnât sound like your thing, you could also make a CBD drink instead. Adding CBD to your morning coffee or tea is an easy way to work it into your morning rituals to support clarity during your day.
Feeling hungry? You could also use oil to make CBD snacks to enjoy later in the day or in the evening to unwind before bed.
Adjusting your dosage and when you take it will help you determine how to make the most of the benefits of CBD oil you may experience. Donât be afraid to give different products a try and see which one you prefer the most.
We hope this guide has given you a better understanding of the potential benefits of CBD oil and ways to add it to your daily ritual.
As a general rule of thumb, the effects of CBD typically last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours.
Using CBD products regularly will give you the best chance to experience results, so give it time and see how it may impact your lifestyle.

As total foodies, we understand the happiness that can come from enjoying a great meal or following a new recipe. Weâre always on the lookout for new and interesting ways to shake things up and try something new to share. Cooking with CBD oil can be a fun, creative, and potentially beneficial way to add a little something something extra to your favorite foods.
To get you into the CBD food spirit, weâre taking a look at cooking with CBD oil, some tips for using it in your kitchen, and a few fun CBD food recipes you can try out. Read on and get inspired. đŠđťâđł
Waitâcan you cook with CBD oil? You can, but itâs important to know a few tips for how to cook with CBD oil so you donât accidentally reduce its potency. After all, if you want to add your favorite CBD tincture to a recipe, you want to get all the potential benefits of it, right?
For the CBD curious diving into new uses, many start out with delicious CBD drink recipes. CBD oil products are easier to mix into a drink without having to worry about excessive heat levels affecting potency like you may have to when cooking with CBD.
When youâre cooking with CBD, thereâs a few things to consider to maximize the potential benefits of your product:
Direct heat or excessive heat over 350 degrees Fahrenheit may change the composition of your CBD oil and cause it to lose its potency. Less potency means it may not be as potentially beneficial as it would be normally. For example, if youâre baking with CBD, find a recipe that keeps the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or under. You also need to plan ahead for how many servings you plan to eat at once, adjusting your dosage accordingly.
Baking isnât the only method for how to cook with CBD. You can add CBD oil to just about any meal from salads to grilled skewers. Lots of people even enjoy adding CBD oil to their favorite stir fry! Keeping in mind not to add CBD oil to direct heat, itâs best to add it to the finished product in a stir fry in order to maintain all its potential benefits. When used as a finishing touch to top off your favorite recipes, the options for cooking with CBD are practically limitless.
Now that youâve got a better idea on some good practices for cooking with CBD oil, what are the benefits of using it in your recipes? Many people use CBD together as part of their daily self-care rituals. It may help with pain relief, reduce anxiety, help you cope with stress, or give you the boost you need to start your day. Others look to the potential benefits of CBD oil to help them unwind after a long day, instead.
Regardless of why you choose to explore CBD, cooking with CBD gives you the opportunity to add to those benefits, as well. Instead of just focusing on sweet treats and candy, cooking with CBD oil lets you add it to healthier meals and snacks, too. You still maintain control over dosing while having the opportunity to add interesting flavors to create new and exciting variations of your favorites!
All this talk about cooking with CBD oil has us hungry. Weâre leaving to go cook now, bye!

Can I fly with CBD oil? Thatâs a question that comes to lots of peopleâs minds when it comes to traveling. The potential benefits of CBD to fight off jet lag, travel anxiety, or just as part of your daily ritual make it something you definitely want to pack, but can you?
In this post, weâre answering the question, âcan you fly with CBD oil?â to get you up to speed on the current rules and regulations for traveling with CBD. Itâs important to remember that current state laws on CBD may change at any time though, so please DYOR (do your own research) before traveling to make sure itâs legal for your trip.
For people who love to travel, the past couple of years have been really tough. Even people who havenât fully caught the travel bug just yet have probably found themselves daydreaming about packing up and going anywhere! Before you book that plane ticket and start jet setting around chasing sunsets though, youâll want to get an answer to the question, âcan I fly with CBD oil?â
At the time of this guide, determining, âcan I travel with CBD oil?â is a complicated question. In the United States, CBD is legal at the federal level and has been since the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018. That said, some states have been slower to adjust their rulings on CBD than others.
For example, South Dakota has had fluctuating rulings over the past two years defining whether or not CBD is legal in that state. Because states are having to reassess their approach to CBD products, you should always confirm the most recent laws before you start packing your favorite CBD tincture to take with you.
Once youâve figured out if youâre able to bring CBD into another state from where youâre traveling, the next question is can you fly with CBD oil? The TSA has its own set of strict guidelines when it comes to what people can check in their luggage or bring on the plane with them.
Some people choose to travel with CBD because it may help calm down nervous flyers. Others just keep it on them as a part of a daily CBD ritual. No matter why youâre thinking about flying with CBD, it makes sense that CBD users may want to use it to help cope with stress and bring a feeling of calm when facing some of the current (and new) anxieties of flying.
Even though CBD and marijuana are different, the current TSA CBD guidelines reference them together under its Medical Marijuana category. At the time of this publication, TSA rules say that hemp-derived or FDA-approved CBD oil is generally allowed on planes. They follow federal laws allowing CBD products with no more than 0.3% THC. This means you shouldnât have any problems choosing between your different types of CBD products (full spectrum vs broad spectrum) for the trip.
Products like CBD oil and CBD cream are still subject to TSA rules on traveling with liquids (called the 3-1-1- rule), which means you need to follow those instructions before you bring anything with you on the plane. The TSA 3-1-1 liquids rule states that each passenger on an airplane is allowed one quart size bag of liquids, gels, or aerosols. Each product must also be in its own 3.4 ounce travel-size container (or smaller).
Note: If you have a CBD vape pen and/or cartridges, TSA rules state you can pack those in your carry-on but not put them in your checked baggage.
SoâŚcan you fly with CBD oil? The answer is yes, as long as youâre following the TSA guidelines for traveling with liquids and youâve researched current regulations for CBD products for the location youâre traveling to.
Of course, a TSA agent wonât be able to tell right away if a CBD product contains less than 0.3% THC. No on-site testing is done on the product, so there may be room for misidentification. If youâre bringing your CBD with you to possibly help with travel anxiety or a fear of flying, the last thing you need is to be worried about whether or not the TSA will recognize your CBD products are being carried legally.
While the TSA guidelines state they do not actively seek out marijuana or illegal drugs, that doesnât guarantee you wonât encounter a situation where a TSA agent is unfamiliar with CBD products and considers them the same thing. To help avoid any issues at the airport, you may want to consider printing out the official lab tests for your CBD products provided by the company and bring them with you.
We hope this guide has given you confidence when packing your CBD products for your next trip! Donât forget â laws can change at any time, so itâs important to check for the most updated information before traveling. That saidâŚ
Can you fly with CBD oil? Yep!
What about flying with CBD cream? Absolutely.
Now get packing for your next (safe) adventure. đ
New to CBD and its guidelines or looking to learn a little more? Weâve made it simple for you with a few handy resources:
]]>Important Note: Before you start taking any supplements, consult a medical professional to make sure itâs safe to mix with your current lifestyle and any medications you may be taking.
Before jumping into the difference between curcumin and turmeric, what is turmeric? You mean the spice jar I have in my cabinet? Yes! Turmeric comes from the underground root (or rhizome) of the Curcuma longa, a plant in the ginger family. Itâs native to Southeast Asia and has been used as a spice and in traditional medicines for thousands of years.
With its long history starting in India, the use of turmeric as a spice and Eastern medicine practices spread over the centuries. Still used today, turmeric may help provide a variety of health benefits including:
Itâs not hard to see what makes turmeric so special! But what makes it so potentially helpful? This comes in its makeup. Turmeric is made up of a combination of plant compounds called curcuminoids (see where weâre heading here?). These compounds may offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial qualities that work together.
If turmeric is made of curcuminoids, then what is curcumin? As you probably put together, curcumin is a plant compound found in turmeric and is its most active and potentially-beneficial element. Itâs also what gives turmeric its signature golden color and distinct flavor!
Studies have shown that curcumin has plenty of potential health benefits itself. While some of the benefits overlap with turmeric as a whole, itâs been shown to have potential as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even possibly anti-tumor substance.
Thereâs a slight shortcoming when looking at curcumin in turmeric, however. Even though itâs the most active of the curcuminoids that make up the spice, curcumin only makes up roughly 2% to 8% of turmeric by weight. Curcumin capsules have a concentrated amount that is meant to amplify their potential health benefits. making them a popular choice for people looking to maximize the benefits of both.
So⌠if theyâre from the same plant...
Understanding the difference between curcumin and turmeric is easier than you may think. Try thinking of curcumin vs turmeric like vitamin C vs oranges. One is found inside the otherâa part of a whole.
So is curcumin the same as turmeric? Yes and no. Comparing curcumin vs turmeric is really a measurement of how much you want of each. Itâs also important to consider your own genetic makeup and how that may affect any potential benefits.
Perhaps the most notable difference between curcumin and turmeric is problems observed with the bioavailability of curcumin. Bioavailability refers to the amount of a substance that is absorbed and metabolized by the body. Since itâs already a smaller portion of the total makeup of turmeric, those with less bioavailability to absorb curcumin may need the concentrations found in curcumin supplements to see potential results.
Curcumin capsules with higher concentrations of the plant compound may increase bioavailability and help you metabolize more of it for possible health benefits.
Similar to adding CBD tinctures or other supplements to your daily ritual, each person may experience different results from using curcumin vs turmeric. It may take a little adjusting along the way to see what works best for you.
Now that youâve got a better grasp on the difference between curcumin and turmeric, letâs talk about how they work together, too. While thereâs no way to tell for certain which potential health benefits each person may experience, curcumin vs turmeric doesnât have to mean either/or.
Like we talked about, turmeric has a lengthy list of potential health benefits ranging from pain relief to managing arthritis. Part of what gives it these potential qualities is its combined makeup from its three primary curcuminoids: curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Since curcumin is the most active and healthful of those three, increasing the potency of your dosage may help boost overall effects.
In short, turmeric has potential health benefits that curcumin may not provide on its own. That said, the possible benefits of curcumin may help amplify the effectiveness of turmeric. Itâs a sort of symbiotic relationship whose ultimate outcome is meant to have you ready to take on each and every day!
We hope weâve been able to demystify the difference between curcumin and turmeric for you. Remember that itâs like vitamin C to an orange, a part to a whole. Next time youâre considering curcumin vs turmeric, consider how they might work together for your benefit and see what dosage combination works best for you. Like with any health supplement, adding turmeric to your daily ritual or taking curcumin capsules regularly will yield the best results.
]]>Lifestyle changes donât happen overnight. In fact, changing too much at once can make it harder to succeed in forming new habits. To help you with your self-transformation, weâre taking a look at the keys to making lifestyle changes that last.
Before we jump into methods for making lifestyle changes that last, letâs talk about the process of forming them. How long does it take to make a lifestyle change? We are creatures of habit. In fact, up to 40% of our daily activities are made up of habits that we may not even be fully aware of! This is why changing your lifestyle and creating new habits takes more than just a day to take hold.
Itâs been a long-held standard by experts that new habits can take an average of 66 days to form. Instead of looking at this length of time as daunting, though, try to see this 2-month evolutionary cycle for making lifestyle changes that last as an opportunity. Itâs a chance to form your new self care rituals exactly as youâd like them to direct you towards your goals!
Regardless of what kind of self care techniques youâre looking to start or improve this year, weâre proud of you. :hugging_face:Â The first step to making lifestyle changes that last is deciding to do it. It might sound simple, but self-motivation can be tough.
There are lots of great self care lifestyle changes you might be considering. Want to challenge yourself to read more? Start meditating at home? Create or increase a healthy lifestyle to meet your goals? No matter your destination, the key to making lifestyle changes that last is in the journey. Some effective techniques to consider are:
Whether youâve heard of the SMART goals test before or itâs totally new to you, it can be a useful tool for making lifestyle changes that last. SMART is an acronym that stands for:
The idea is that you start making lifestyle changes that last by creating small, specific goals you can implement into your daily life. These small changes can turn into life-long lifestyle shifts. For example, instead of saying you want to eat healthier, you might say you want to start adding one serving of fruit to your daily diet. To measure this goal, you can say youâll monitor it by logging it into a daily food tracker like the MyFitnessPal app.
In order to form lifestyle changes that stick, your goals need to be achievable, too. If youâre just starting out being more active, donât try running 5 miles a day from the beginning. Work your way up to that with more manageable goals you can achieve. This not only helps keep you from overdoing it and potentially injuring yourself, but it also gives you the mental boost from meeting your goals and growing on them. Breaking goals and lifestyle changes into smaller milestones is key to staying on track.
Keeping your goals realistic is about making lifestyle changes that last from goals that youâre most likely to achieve. You might have some lofty ambitions for being healthier, changing your life, or creating new habits. Try starting with the one youâre most likely to succeed doing in order to keep your momentum. Focusing on one goal or lifestyle change at a time also increases the likelihood itâll become part of your daily self care rituals that last.
Finally, being time-based means choosing a specific start date for beginning your new habits plus check-in times to see your progress. Some goals, like fitness challenges, might also benefit from an end deadline, too. For example, if youâre looking to run more, signing up for a 5K run or mini-marathon can give you a goal to work towards with a specific date set.
Part of making lifestyle changes that last is being held accountable. We donât mean being reprimanded, but having an accountability partner there to challenge you and keep you motivated along the way. This can be a friend, family member, coworker, or anyone you can count on to keep you accountable and motivated along your journey.
(Your pup or cat donât count, because theyâre the ultimate couch party enabler.)
Another awesome method for making lifestyle changes that last is using anchor habits. Anchor habits are an existing behavior that you can attach to the new habit youâre forming. For example, if you want to try and boost your energy each morning to take on the day, you might start the new habit of adding CBD tincture to your morning coffee. Since your morning coffee is already a daily habit, adding CBD drink recipes for potential boosts in energy and clarity is made easier to integrate into your daily ritual.
Using anchor habits could also be a good method for finding healthy ways to cope with stress, too. During your daily shower or bath, take a few minutes to center your mind and let the stress of the day wash off. Since CBD and meditation make a popular pairing, consider adding a CBD bath bomb to your relaxing bath. You can turn your bathroom into your very own spa so you can ignore the world and chill out for an hour!
With so much of our day made up of already existing habits, itâs not hard to find anchor habits to attach lifestyle changes to. Think about your dayâwhat you do and where you goâand see which ones would be perfect for making lifestyle changes that last.
It doesnât take a new year to change your habits and improve your self care rituals. Making lifestyle changes that last is all about setting achievable goals and building on them. The first step is choosing to try, so give these methods a chance and see what works best for you. Weâre proud of you!
To learn more about the potential benefits of CBD products and where to find them (hint, we know a placeđââď¸), check out these resources:
]]>Before we start in on potential curcumin benefits, it helps to know what it is! Youâve probably heard of it with turmeric, but what is curcumin? While some places use the words interchangeably, theyâre not actually the same thing. So whatâs the difference between curcumin and turmeric?
Turmeric contains three primary plant compounds known as curcuminoids. The most active and healthful among them is (you guessed it!) curcumin. While turmeric has its own potential benefits stemming from its total makeup, curcumin is the primary reason turmeric does...well, what turmeric does! An easy way to think of it is being kind of like vitamin C is to an orange đ.
The biggest obstacle for potential curcumin benefits is its natural poor bioavailability. Bioavailability is the measure of absorbed and metabolized micronutrients the body gets from a substance. Basically, how much of it your body really makes use of. Even though itâs turmericâs most potent compound, curcumin only makes up an average of 2% to 8% of turmeric by weight. This means that youâre not necessarily getting the most of potential curcumin benefits from turmeric alone.
Instead of shoveling in turmeric by the truckload (we love it, but...too much of a good thing, ya know đŹ), the easiest way to maximize its potential benefits is by adding curcumin capsules to your daily ritual. These daily supplements deliver concentrated amounts to boost potential curcumin benefits.
Before you start taking any kind of supplement, of course you want to know what it could do. What are the benefits of taking curcumin? Itâs no surprise that the list of potential curcumin benefits overlaps a lot with those of turmeric. Afterall, most of them come from the curcumin inside turmeric anyway! The concentrations found in curcumin supplements increases the amount your body could absorb and may boost potential curcumin benefits drastically.
Some of the potential curcumin benefits you could experience include:
As you can see, the answer to, âwhat are the benefits of taking curcumin?â comes with a plethora of potential benefits for everyone. Along with the potential curcumin benefits for things like memory, cognitive function, and pain relief, you may also find it could elevate your mood, as well.
There continue to be more studies as to its effects on the human body that show just how much it could positively impact your daily life. As with any supplement, taking curcumin regularly is most likely to yield better results.
Note: Before you begin taking any supplements for your health, talk it over with a medical professional to be sure itâs the right move for you.
While the list of possible curcumin benefits is impressive, what about ways to take them a step further? If youâre already adding CBD tincture to your morning coffee to try and boost morning clarity, what about changing things up to get the potential benefits of CBD and curcumin together?
Choosing CBD curcumin capsules that pack the two compounds together could have a great positive impact on your overall health and well-being. The addition of a broad spectrum CBD could work in tandem with the curcumin to cause an entourage effect. To make the most of this, choose nano supplements engineered to improve bioavailability for faster absorption first thing in the morning.
We hope this guide has helped you recognize the potential curcumin benefits you mightâve been missing out on up to now. Taking curcumin supplements packs in the possible benefits of curcumin you arenât likely to get from turmeric alone. The higher concentration of curcumin could improve your daily life and give you the boost you need!

]]>To help you in keeping the inevitable holiday stress at bay this season, letâs look at a few reminders we can all use.
And that's totally OK.
Everyone has different expectations of how the holidays will go, which is where most of the stress stems from. It's not unusual for 1-2 family members to take charge during the holidays, and this can leave you feeling like you're not being heard.
Open communication is so important during times like this. If you're not feelin' something or uncomfortable going somewhere, be sure to communicate that to your family member or friend so they can understand where you're coming from.
It's not guaranteed that a resolution or compromise will be reached, but doesn't it feel better to get something out in the open if you can safely do so?
It might seem pretty obvious, but one of the best holiday stress tips is finding ways to stay chill and relax. Taking time to go to your happy place during the holidays is an important part of winter self care and essential to keeping the inevitable holiday stress at bay. Taking time for yourself isnât being selfish!
And if it is... well, we're big advocates of being selfish then. :)
Combining CBD and meditation rituals is a practice we love. The potential stress-relieving qualities of CBD products used alongside calming meditation techniques may help recenter yourself when you feel those holiday stress levels rising. The best part is, you can meditate from pretty much anywhere and even a few minutes each day may help keep you feeling chill.
(Came across this post but not into CBD? Meditation by itself absolutely works wonders!)
Looking for another self care ritual to keep holiday stress down? Starting off your morning with a little âmeâ time and unwinding at night before bed can be great for managing holiday stress, too. Enjoying your morning coffee or ending the day with a comfy hot chocolate or herbal tea gives you a few minutes to relax and take everything in. It's all part of slowing things down and taking a breather.
Bonus Points: Check out some CBD drink recipes (including a delish peppermint latte) after this!
Â
đđź Say hello to "Alone Armadillo"
Creating some time to be alone during the holidays (or any day really) can be beneficial. Scheduling some alone time is one of the easiest ways to cope with stress and other emotions while taking care of things you need to do so you can avoid feeling behind.
Since itâs not really possible to completely hide over the holidays, boundaries are a good skill to flex for managing holiday stress, as well. Saying no isnât rude! In fact, saying no is one of the best skills to develop for handling stress during the holidays.
Keeping the inevitable holiday stress at bay means recognizing you may not really need to be at every single event in order to feel engaged. You donât have to attend every party (or even stay a long time at the ones you do attend) if you need a little âmeâ time. Be mindful of your needs this holiday season and set boundaries where you need to.
Important Note: If youâre struggling with feelings of stress and uncertainty, please lean on healthcare professionals who can provide expert help to help you get a handle on it.
Just because youâre not attending an event in person doesnât mean it canât be a source of holiday stress. Zoom fatigue is real! This kind of fatigue comes from the nature of video calls. For example, long periods of close eye contact are intense and may even stir up feelings of social anxiety.
Another common cause of zoom fatigue is looking at yourself during video calls. Experts agree that seeing ourselves constantly while speaking with others (letâs be honest, weâre all looking at ourselves on that video call đ) makes us more critical of our movements, emotions, and mannerisms.
If youâre not flying out to see family this year but want to join in with a video call, take breaks whenever you need it. When youâre together in person, you can walk into another room. On Zoom, youâre stuck in place! Limiting your screen time on video calls (or evening screen time altogether, really), can help with keeping holiday stress levels down.
We know most people tend to feel some sort of obligation to give or receive gifts during the holidays. Even if you like giving gifts to others, determining what to get them, shopping for it, and spending money can be a huge source of holiday stress. This year, try to let go of those âexpectationsâ you may sense and get back to the meaning of the holidays.
This doesnât mean you canât buy gifts for friends, family, or as charity donations. What we mean is an important part of managing stress during the holidays is knowing your limits and not pushing yourself beyond them for the sake of others.
Hopefully these holiday stress tips have given you something to think about this season. Knowing ways for keeping the inevitable holiday stress at bay can make a huge difference in how you enjoy them. Be sure to respect your own limits while taking time to care for yourself and everything could turn out great.
Adding CBD tinctures to your daily ritual may help manage holiday stress this year. If CBD drinks arenât your thing, check out these CBD snacks for some delish snacks for yourself... or to share if you're in the holiday spirit. ;)Today weâre saying F stress and diving into how to cope with stress and uncertainty with a few techniques and lifestyle changes that may work for you.
Before we get into how to cope with stress and ways for dealing with uncertainty (the most common cause of anxiety), itâs important to understand the difference between them. Understanding this difference can help you figure out ways that may help you through them both.
Thereâs a fine line between stress and anxiety. Both of them are emotional responses that may respond to similar coping techniques. So whatâs the difference between stress and anxiety?
The simplest way to think about what makes them different is that stress is usually caused from an outside source or trigger whereas anxiety and uncertainty are characterized by thoughts and worries that continue sometimes even without a stressor.
Learning how to cope with stress starts by being able to identify stressors. Think about a time when youâve had a work deadline hanging over your head or maybe youâve had an argument with a friend and youâre replaying it over in your mind and itâs putting you on edge. Those are the kinds of external triggers that cause stress.Â
Thankfully, your brain knows how to handle stress (good brain đ§ ).
Our brain takes in what weâre experiencing and also recalls memories of how we felt in similar positions before then processes that information to determine whether or not a situation is stressful. This is often called the stress response.
Which part of the brain activates the stress response?
That would be the hypothalamus. If your brain decides a situation is stressful, the hypothalamus kicks into gear and sends alerts to the pituitary gland and the adrenal gland. These short term responses raise cortisol levels in your body (a natural hormone that contributes to Fight or Flight instincts). If youâre experiencing long-term stress, that is handled by the Hypothalamic Pituitary-Adrenal System (HPA).
Part of taking care of yourself is learning how to cope with stress and find ways to help reduce it. There are lots of positive ways to cope with stress like:
One of the best ways to manage stress, though, is by beginning a daily ritual. Daily self care rituals help you manage the stress in your life while you take the time to relax, recharge, and re-energize your mind and body.
For example, you may consider trying CBD and meditation as a way to potentially reduce stress and anxiety. Meditation has been shown to help reduce stress and can be done anywhere at any time while the potential benefits of CBD may help enhance your experience.
You could also try keeping a daily guided journal to organize your thoughts and focus on positive ways to cope with stress.
Another important thing to consider when learning how to cope with stress and uncertainty is to avoid guilt. Sometimes our mindset when experiencing stress might make us feel guilty for not living up to a standard weâve set for ourselves or one we feel others have set for us.
Guilt and stress donât go well together, so try to focus on positive ways to cope with stress while acknowledging that youâre doing your best.
This is your loving, friendly reminder to stop the guilt. You are awesome. You're dong amazing. Sometimes just getting through the day is enough. :)
Our brains are constantly trying to make sense of the world we live in.
This means itâs working nonstop behind the scenes to create subconscious ârulesâ for what our normal is. When things differ from that normal -- whether itâs something weâre experiencing now or something we think may happen -- those rules are broken and our brains scramble to make sense of the new situation.
This break from the ânormalâ is why weâre afraid of uncertainty. Uncertainty is really your brainâs response to trying to quickly make assumptions and predictions on how something will work out when itâs not going according to how we expected (or when weâre worried it may not).
Next up letâs take a look at how to deal with uncertainty.
Where stress comes from an outside source, anxiety (or uncertainty) is caused by thoughts and feelings that come from within ourselves without an external catalyst. Sometimes our anxieties can lead to an overactive mind that always feels âbusy.â
Symptoms of anxiety or uncertainty are often similar to symptoms of stress, which is why itâs important to understand the difference between the two. Knowing which one is affecting you is the first step to learning how to cope with stress and uncertainty.
One potentially effective way for dealing with uncertainty is learning to take action over the things you can control. When youâre feeling in control of a situation, even if itâs only part of the situation, it helps alleviate uncertainty and anxiety. Feeling like you have taken action for the part you can control gives you a sense of direct control over the outcome, which takes away the uncertainty factor.
Finding ways to challenge your feelings of uncertainty is another method for how to handle stress and anxiety. Instead of procrastinating in order to avoid having to make a choice with an uncertain outcome (weâve all been guilty of this at one time or another đââď¸), take action to think about possible outcomes and how to get to the one you want.Â
Dealing with uncertainty is also easier when you focus on the present.
Instead of allowing your thoughts to run off into what may happen or what might have been, focus on the here and now. Being connected to the present can help stop the downward spiral of negative thoughts for uncertainty about the future.
Stress sucks. We hope weâve helped you start to learn how to cope with stress and uncertainty with new ideas to try. Remember to focus your mind, take control of what you can, make some healthy lifestyle choices, and consider making adjustments to your daily rituals to support a calmer mind.
If you continue to struggle with feelings of stress and uncertainty, please lean on healthcare professionals who can provide expert help to help you get a handle on it.

Brain hyperactivity (also referred to as an overactive mind or busy mind) has increased year over year in adults as we have more happening in our everyday lives. Juggling work, family, friends, self care and being overwhelmed with technology can lead to an overload that causes our mind to race.Â
So what can you do about a busy mind without feeling like youâre falling behind (which is enough to stress anyone out)?
Letâs explore the ins and outs of working with an overactive mind thatâs always âbusyâ from some common causes to rituals you can adopt for potential relief.
An overactive mind can be a source of major problems. It can make each day difficult to manage productively. Maybe your busy mind turns you into an A+ procrastinator? Do you find yourself working on a little bit for a lot of tasks but fully completing almost nothing?
Quieting an overactive mind stems from identifying the catalyst. Having a busy mind as an adult doesnât necessarily mean youâre suffering from ADHD (though a healthcare professional will be able to determine this), but it may be a possible indicator of a few other mental health concerns such as anxiety, stress, or depression.
It could potentially also be a sign of potential post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). As we mentioned above, please lean on health care professionals that are experts with the above if you're really struggling to get a handle on an inattentive or overactive brain.
In todayâs world, another factor for an overactive mind that may surprise you is all the tech that surrounds us.
Being connected can be great, but daily increased amounts of screen time with blue light exposure, feeling the need to respond to multiple conversations at once, or having major FOMO are all modern potential causes of a busy mind.Â
Ok, time to get to the good stuff so you can chill out your busy mind. Letâs take a look at a few different ways that may help:
For some people racing thoughts and an overactive mind stem from things that have already happened or things that might not have even happened yet (and may never). Our first technique for how to calm the mind down is focusing on the now.
Instead of focusing on things you may not be able to change or worrying about something that may not even happen, take a deep breath and think about what is going on in the moment.
What can you do to accomplish a task now?
What can you control at this point in time?
Answers to those questions will give you a great place to start.
You can also find fun activities for help quieting an overactive mind. For example, adult coloring books engage both sides of your brain for focusing and communication. This can be a great activity to focus your mind on the *now* and keep you from thinking too much on events past or the future.
Speaking of taking a deep breath, there are a number of breathing techniques for calming a busy mind you can try, as well. Slow, deep breaths can reduce your bodyâs natural response to stress (which is an increase in cortisol levels) and help bring on a sense of calm.
Mental Health America has published a breathing exercise that may be beneficial for quieting an overactive mind:
This simple breathing technique may seem very basic, but itâs also an easy task you can do just about anywhere at any time to calm your busy mind.
For something more extensive, you can also check out the Wimhof Method.
Another method for quieting an overactive mind is with meditation. Meditation has been shown to help manage stress levels, elevate mood, and even be potentially beneficial for pain relief, as well. With so many different techniques out there, you can certainly find an overactive mind meditation practice that works for you.
One of the more important aspects of meditating to calm the mind is making it part of a daily ritual. Weâre creatures of habit, so turning meditation into a daily ritual can help your mind relax more consistently. To potentially elevate your experience to the next level, consider combining CBD and meditation to see how they might work together for you.
Including CBD in your daily rituals may also help with an overactive mind. Adding your favorite CBD tincture (we know of a really great mint broad spectrum CBD tincture or full spectrum CBD tincture you could try) to a morning cup of coffee or making another CBD drink recipe may give you the mental boost you need to focus throughout your day.
Want a little help from a CBD calming effect in the afternoon? CBD gummies are easy to take and may help give you some mental clarity as your day continues. If you really want to take your relaxation to the next level during the hotter months, you can try a CBD summer drink to beat the heat while relaxing poolside, enjoying a picnic, or even hanging solo.
How many times have you sat in bed trying to go to sleep and your mind just isnât having it? An overactive mind at night can be a common cause of insomnia and stress. Starting a relaxing night time ritual can help your mind and body unwind before bed and help you get better sleep quality.
Your night time ritual can be anything you like. A favorite of ourâs is writing in a daily guided journal. Itâs an easy way to get your thoughts focused before bed and put yourself in a positive mindset.
Studies have shown that making a to-do list or writing your worries out before bed is another way to get those thoughts out of your mind and help with how to stop an overactive mind at night from keeping you awake.
Some other favorite night time rituals of ourâs include self care activities like:
Regardless of your preferred method for how to stop an overactive mind at night, youâll benefit from cutting out blue light exposure and screen time at least 60 to 90 minutes before bed.
This gives your brain a chance to calm down and prepare for sleep.

]]>Sure winter comes with some fun holidays and ringing in the new year, but what about the rest of winter? After the holidays it just stretches onnnnn through the beginning of the year. And even though spring is *almost* here, with the grey weather and potential for limited activities (especially during the recent pandemic) itâs still easy to come down with the winter blues.
To help lessen those winter blues, weâre giving you our guide to winter self care!
Itâs important to practice winter self care during the colder months (and every month, tbh) to beat the blues and bring joy back into your everyday life. Itâs not about big events or major lifestyle changes either. Finding small ways to take care of yourself, relaxing to re-energize, and taking joy in little things goes a long way!
Try out these winter self care ideas to help lessen those blues this year:
During the best of winters it can be difficult to meet up in person, but given the recent pandemic everyoneâs gotten creative with ways to experience that personal connection with one another. Thereâs the phone (yikes đŹâwe know), sure, but the pandemic has also seen an awesome rise in video chat platforms like Zoom and audio apps like Clubhouse that let us connect with others we canât meet with right now. Itâs also given us time to reflect on gratitude for our relationships and find ways to engage with others more mindfully.
Learning how to beat the winter blues with self pampering means taking a little time to focus on your. Winter self care routines add mindfulness to your life and help you slow down to live in the moment.
Â
The winter months can often come with a major lack of sunshine. The grey weather might be nice here and there, but it can be depressing after a while! Natural sunlight helps your brain produce serotonin, a hormone that improves your mood, brings your calm, and helps you focus.
Practice self care for the winter blues by making an effort to soak up some sun whenever you get the chance. Go for a walk on those rare sunny days or pull back all the curtains to let the sunlight pour in while staying inside!
âď¸đś Let the sunshine in đśâď¸
Moving on in our guide to winter self care is taking the time to enjoy a great beverage. Lots of times weâre multitasking and downing our morning coffee (essential for life âď¸) or knocking back a nightcap without taking the time to really enjoy it.
Mindfulness pairs with self care for the winter blues here again. Instead of grabbing your coffee on the run or watching tv while youâre trying out that new CBD drink recipe, slow down and just focus on the act of enjoying it. Take in the smell, feel the warmth of the cup in your hand, and focus on the sensations you feel as you drink it.
Since we have a bit more time before spring is here, try jump-starting your mood with a new hobby like learning to play an instrument or getting crafty with some DIY projects. Even if your project doesnât turn out just right (nailed it!) itâs about the fun you have on the journey.
Movement is also great for improving mood and helping creativity, so you can also consider looking into something like hiking, a dance workout, or running!
Seasonal blues can be a total bummer but we hope our guide to winter self care inspires you to find ways to bring joy into your daily life! Remember itâs about what makes you happy.
Make that connection with someone, add a CBD tincture to your evening drink and live in that moment, or bake the most delicious ugly cake youâve ever seen. Have fun with it and boost your mental health this season!
Feeling symptoms of depression for a prolonged period could be signs of a more serious mental health condition such as Seasonal Affective Disorder. Always consult a healthcare professional for help and treatment and let others around you know how you're feeling.
Weâve got your perfect gift guide to the best adult coloring books out there, and best of all, you don't technically have to gift them to someone else if you don't want to. They make perfect solo gifts.
Youâll laugh, youâll feel inspired, but most importantly youâll relax.
Before we hop into our list of the best adult coloring books, letâs talk about their mental health benefits. How is coloring good for your health?
There have been multiple studies over the years about the potential benefits of adult coloring books in managing stress levels, improving focus, and increasing relaxation. One study in particular noted that coloring complex images like mandalas put the participants in an almost meditative-like state that reduced anxiety levels.
Coloring allows the fear center of your brain, called the amygdala, to relax and reduces the rapid thoughts of a restless mind. Whether youâre coloring in funny adult coloring books or calming mandalas, you go into a state of mindfulness and quiet focus that lets you de-stress after a long day. Put aside those work deadlines or that thing you forgot to pick up at the grocery store (oops) and just focus on your picture.
Using adult coloring books also gives your brain a workout. Coloring requires both sides of your brain to communicate. Staying in the lines means engaging fine motor skills while choosing color and planning out your picture engages the creative side of your brain.
Picking the best adult coloring books to use during a meditative night time ritual also gives you something to do that cuts down on screen time before bed. Screens emit blue light that can be harmful to your natural sleep cycle and prevent you from falling asleep easily. Choosing an adult coloring book keeps you off the screens while your mind unwinds before bed and doesnât affect your melatonin levels! We're here for it.

There can be a noticeable difference in quality depending on the CBD extraction method used in the process.Â
Weâre taking a look at the different CBD extraction methods to see how they differ and find out which CBD extraction process is the best!
When youâre talking about the CBD extraction process what youâre really saying is how to separate the CBD compound from the cannabis hemp plant. The goal during the CBD extraction process is to remove impurities and be able to refine the compound into products like CBD gummies and CBD oil tinctures.Â
To get high quality CBD it has to be extracted very carefully. The wrong CBD extraction method can risk making low quality CBD products or wasting materials.Â
There are three different CBD extraction methods, each with their own pros and cons. They are:
CO2 Extraction
CBD Extraction by Solvent
Steam Distillation
Learning about the different CBD extraction methods is more than just tech talk, we promise! The CBD extraction process has a direct effect on the quality and purity of your CBD products. Knowing which CBD extraction method is best will help you tell the difference between high quality CBD products and the ones you want to avoid.Â
First up is CO2 extraction! CO2 extraction can be supercritical, subcritical, or mid-critical. These categories are talking about the conditions the CO2 is under during the CBD extraction process. The best of these is supercritical CO2 extraction.
Supercritical CO2 extraction method is the most popular CBD extraction process because it produces the highest concentration of CBD and a pure product (win-win! đ). During this CBD extraction method, the pressure and temperature are both increased until the point where the CO2 becomes supercritical. This means it takes on the properties of both a liquid and gas.Â
During the CBD extraction process, the supercritical CO2 is passed through the hemp plant in an extractor. The CO2 pulls trichome and terpene oils from the plant. The solution is then sent through a separator that breaks it down into individual parts. While the trichome and terpene oils are collected elsewhere, the supercritical CO2 is turned back into a liquid using a condenser. The result: pure CBD.
While this is the most expensive of the CBD extraction methods, it also results in the highest quality CBD. All hello amber products are derived from the supercritical CO2 extraction method!
Moving on to the next in our overview of different CBD extraction methods is solvent extraction. Solvent extraction uses a liquid to pull the cannabinoids from the hemp plant. After enough cannabinoids are in liquid form, the solution is heated to evaporate the solvent material and leave behind an oil.Â
There are two different CBD extraction methods using solvents: natural and hydrocarbons. Natural solvents like olive oil or ethanol are less dangerous for this CBD extraction process as hydrocarbons like butane are super flammable and can leave behind toxic residue.
Even natural solvents have their downsides, though. Ethanol might be more budget friendly but is a low-grade alcohol. While it is consumed in measured amounts through alcohol consumption and using beauty products, only premium quality extraction equipment and precise measurements will ensure all the ethanol has evaporated making a safe, quality product. Using ethanol for the CBD extraction process can also make CBD edibles like gummies and tinctures have an off taste and thatâs definitely not ideal if youâre looking to make CBD infused drinks.Â
Steam distillation has literally been around for centuries as a method of extracting essential oils. Of the methods of CBD extraction weâve talked about, though, itâs the most unreliable and wasteful.
The steam CBD extraction process requires a large setup with a water tank, hemp plant tank, condenser tube, and collection flask. The hemp plant tank has an intake for getting steam from the water tank and an outlet that connects it to the condenser tube. As the water is set to a boil, the steam goes upward into the hemp plant tank and separates oil vapors containing CBD. The CBD oil vapors are collected and condensed into oil and water. This is then distilled further to separate the CBD oil from the water for a final product.Â
Using steam for the CBD extraction process requires you to use a significantly larger amount of hemp plant for the same CBD yield. Itâs also much more difficult to extract CBD in exact concentration amounts this way. To top it off, you also run the risk of the steam getting too hot and damaging the CBD extract, giving you an inferior CBD product.
After checking out the three different CBD extraction methods we declare the clear winner to be supercritical CO2 extraction! No, not just because our CBD products are derived from it (we just want to offer you the best CBD products possible!). While itâs the most expensive of the methods of CBD extraction, it gives the most pure and concentrated CBD product.
Hopefully now youâve got a comfortable understanding of the CBD extraction methods out there! Finding out which products work best for you can take a little adjusting. Donât be afraid to try different CBD products and use them at different times to see what fits your wants.
Now that you know what makes for the best CBD products you should have no trouble finding them! If you need some direction, though, weâve got a lead right here.

Weâre taking a look at the effects of drinking CBD and giving you 4 CBD recipes to try, including Strawberry Mint Lemonade, a Peppermint Latte, Pineapple Mint Mojito, and a (Virgin) French 75.
Is drinking CBD oil okay? Absolutely! Drinking CBD oil is a popular way to add it to your daily routine. As more people are learning about its potential benefits, CBD drink recipes have popped up everywhere (check out the bottom of this page for 4 from us! đ).Â
You can add CBD oil to any drink you like. Try boosting morning clarity with a CBD infused coffee or latte (our personal favorite âď¸đ) or settling in during a night time routine to unwind before bed. You can even make CBD infused cocktails and mocktails!
When it comes to adding CBD to alcoholic beverages, remember to dose low. We suggest no more than 15mg per session. Itâs important to recognize thatâs not 15mg per drink! So if youâre planning on making CBD cocktails, be sure to spread that dosage out across all your planned beverages or stick to using a full dosage in only one drink.
Adding a CBD tincture to your drink may help in a variety of ways. For example, drinking CBD infused coffee in the morning may help give you the morning energy boost you want while keeping you calm and counteracting the possible negative effects caffeine can have such as increased anxiety.Â
While there are few studies on CBD infused drinks, some studies have suggested one of the potential health benefits of CBD oil may be to prevent cell damage from over-consumption of alcohol as well as reducing your blood alcohol level.
Caffeine and alcohol can both cause increased feelings of anxiety or trigger symptoms of depression. CBD may help alleviate both of those. As always, the effects will be different for each person and itâs important to find what dosage and combination works best for you.Â
Now on to the fun part, right? Our CBD recipes! These CBD drink recipes pair perfectly with our Enchant-Mint broad spectrum CBD oil tincture to elevate your average beverage to the next level. Whether youâre making it for yourself or a group, we think youâll love these CBD infused drinks:

If a CBD oil tincture isnât your 'cup of tea' (đ) then maybe CBD gummies are more your style.
]]>Yep! As we said there are actually three different types of CBD available. They are:
No, weâre not talking about the spectrum of colors on a light prism here. Full spectrum CBD products refer to ones which contain small amounts of all components of the cannabis plant. This means theyâre allowed to contain trace amounts of THC (up to 0.3%). While some full spectrum cbd products in states where cannabis is fully legal may have more than 0.3% THC, that is the maximum federally legal amount at this time.
Some studies have suggested full spectrum products may provide the âentourage effectâ of cannabis components.
So then whatâs the difference between full spectrum vs broad spectrum CBD products? Broad spectrum CBD products have had the THC completely removed (hello amberâs CBD products are all broad spectrum and THC free, however we may carry full spectrum in the future). This is ideal for people looking to fully avoid the small amounts of THC in full spectrum CBD products for personal, professional, or legal reasons.
Broad spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids and plant components of the cannabis plant besides THC and will also enable the entourage effect.
One of the CBD questions many people have is âdoes CBD show up on a drug test?â This highlights the most important difference between full spectrum vs broad spectrum CBD products. CBD alone wonât show up on a drug test as most are designed to only detect THC breakdowns. The trace amounts in full spectrum CBD products, however, may show up on a drug test. Using broad spectrum CBD is the best way to minimize issues altogether.
If full spectrum has bits of all the components of the cannabis plant and broad spectrum CBD products mean theyâve taken all THC out, then whatâs left? The answer: CBD isolate. CBD isolate is the third type of CBD available and is a pure form of CBD itself. It contains no other cannabis plant compounds at all.
CBD isolate is a crystal form of CBD, often ground up into a powder. Sometimes you may see it referred to as CBD crystals, and it can come in various forms like tincture or gummies.
CBD isolate may be beneficial for those looking to self-measure exact doses of CBD, wanting a flavorless/odorless CBD product, or those looking for versatile CBD products to add to food or drink. The tradeoff is that it has been suggested that taking a singular, isolated compound may not be quite as effective as other CBD products and does not offer the entourage effect.
While broad spectrum CBD has removed the THC, both full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD products contain other natural compounds found in the cannabis plant that may boost their effectiveness.
We mentioned this earlier in the post and it's something people are incredibly curious about when hearing the term. There's said to be a synergistic relationship between the naturally occurring compounds in the cannabis plant and CBD which could potentially help the physiological effects when taking it.
Full spectrum CBD enables the entourage effect, as does broad spectrum to a slightly lesser extent because broad spectrum doesn't contain CBD.
CBD isolate will not have the entourage effect.
(A comparison of broad spectrum CBD, full spectrum CBD and CBD isolate)
Determining which of the different types of CBD products is right varies from person to person. Furthermore, how well it works and how long it takes to feel the effects of CBD will also vary based on other factors such as:
Leading busy lives means weâre often bouncing from activity to activity without cooldown periods to recharge and regroup. In your busy schedule, the first thing that usually gets shoved to the wayside is the one thing you need most: self-care.
Self-care activities are what recharge your batteries and help you take on each day fresh and renewed. As youâre spending more time stuck inside during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, you may find yourself with even more added stress and anxiety than usual. Youâll find when you start taking time to care for yourself other areas of your life will become more manageable, less stressful, and clear.
Combining CBD and meditation is a growing trend in self-care routines that we love! The potential stress-relieving qualities of CBD products and calming meditation complement each other really well. Letâs take a deeper look at how CBD and meditation can work together and why you should consider it as part of your daily routine:
Before combining CBD and meditation letâs take a look at what a meditation practice is. There are common misconceptions about meditation such as:
These couldnât be further from the truth! And we get it. Our founder was on the meditation struggle bus for a l-o-n-g time before finding a way that it could work for her.
Building a meditation practice doesnât mean youâre spending hours a day sitting in silence trying to empty your brain of all thought. Meditation practice is the building of a self-care routine that you come back to, not just the individual moment youâre doing it.
Emptying your mind to meditate isnât a requirement, either. Mindfulness meditation practice is about calming your mind, centering yourself, and allowing yourself to view thoughts that come into your mind from a positive, non-judgemental place. Itâs about allowing yourself to have your feelings and examine them from a rational perspective.
As for the rigidity of meditation, thatâs a yes and no. Yes, meditation practice is about routine but you can adapt it to work for you. Uncomfortable in a certain position? Change it up and help yourself succeed! If sitting upright and poised is your cup of tea, go for it. Prefer to lie down and meditate with your eyes closed? Perfect! In the end, meditation is about the personal journey and experience, not the setup.
And the woo? There are proven and measurable benefits of meditation when it comes to brain activity, stress, anxiety, and self-improvement. While maybe it used to be considered woo, thereâs nothing âwooâ about it.
What does your daily routine look like? If itâs like most, youâre getting up and downing a cup of coffee (or tea!) before you make yourself presentable and either run out the door for work (where youâre already 5 minutes behind and hoping for good traffic) or walking down the hall to your home office.
After work itâs back home (or closing the home office door) where you try to shake off the work day while cooking, cleaning, trying to spend time with a significant other, or maybe caring for kids. Whereâs the time for you?
Ironically, the very aspects of our lives that meditation helps with seem to be what prevents us from taking a moment to do it. The good news is meditation doesnât have to be an hour-long event. Even a few minutes a day of meditation has been shown to improve mood, increase relaxation, fight symptoms of depression, rewire the brain, and relieve stress and anxiety.
Once again meditation practice is about the routine/ritual. As our schedules get even more hectic today with the pandemic throwing a wrench in the works of our already complicated lives, taking a moment to implement a self-care routine is more important than ever.
When you start meditating regularly, even for short periods of time, your brain changes. While it might sound like science fiction, when you meditate brain functions and structures begin to change:
Greater emotional control by meditating not only calms the mind, helping reduce stress and anxiety, but it also helps in the creative process. Many times the creative process is hindered by our mindâs inability to move on from something else. These hurdles make it difficult to think creatively or solve problems as easily. When youâre in greater control over your emotions, you can improve creativity and creative problem solving.
This brings us to the benefits of combining CBD and meditation! The potential stress-relieving qualities of CBD and calming meditation complement each other really well. Letâs take a deeper look at how CBD and meditation can work together and why you should consider it as part of your daily routine.
Adding CBD to supplement your lifestyle may help reduce stress and anxiety, fight inflammation, and promote calm, so combining CBD and meditation feels like a no-brainer, right?
You can take this literally and combine CBD and meditation at the same time or take the spirit of the phrase and add both to your daily self-care routine. Either way, they work hand-in-hand to achieve similar goals.
Think about it as a complementary relationship. CBD may allow your body to relax more which enhances the benefits of meditation â calming your mind. Taking CBD before meditating is like giving your body a little nudge in the right direction. The combination of CBD and meditation may help you experience less anxiety, improve your overall mood, and let you see things more clearly. Being clear-minded is essential to managing stress levels and reducing strain from your hectic schedule.
So next time youâre waking up and jumping right into the daily routine, consider adding CBD oil to that cup of coffee (itâs what brings us back to life each morning! âď¸đ¤). Give it about 30 minutes to fully kick in (you can go about your regular routine during this) then take a few minutes to meditate and really prepare your mind for the day ahead.
If youâre looking to unwind after a long day, maybe you prefer a CBD and meditation nighttime ritual to help you relax and sleep better, instead. You can add CBD oil to a nightcap (our favorite is a calming tea) or eat a CBD gummy to kick things off. Take a little time to meditate before bed and relax your mind further, recovering from the stresses of the day.
Thereâs a number of meditation apps you can use, but we suggest trying out trials of each to see what resonates with you the most. Some examples,
Headspace: This app is great for beginners, and has a number of different meditation âstyles.â You can do guided meditation (which is where youâre listening to someone guide you through the whole thing) or meditations with no voices for different experiences; relieving stress, sleeping better, etc.
Calm: Calm is fantastic because it not only has meditations to listen to like Headspace, but also has music to meditate to from artists like Ellie Goulding and different âsoundsâ like the beach, the rainforest, thunderstorms and basically anything else you could want to fall asleep to.
Waking Up: This is created and guided by Sam Harris. This is similar to headspace but, if youâre familiar with Sam Harris, uses his guidance to take you through the meditation process which is slightly different than how others do it.
There are trials of all the above meditation apps (and if you have an AMEX card, Calm is free for a year) so give some of them a try. Having a daily self-care routine is essential to your overall health, and youâll find taking a little time for self-care activities will improve the other aspects of your life. CBD and mediation can work together to help you take on the day or unwind in the evening. Since each person reacts to CBD products differently, take the time to find a balance that works for you.
Do you meditate? If so, how often? What have you noticed with a continuous meditation ritual?

]]>No burying the lede here. What is CBD?
Even though the popularity of using CBD has exploded in recent years, the fact is itâs been around longer than you might think! The first time CBD was successfully separated from the Cannabis sativa plant was in 1940 by a Harvard graduate chemist named Roger Adams, and yet, people are still asking, âWhat is CBD?â
While CBD is an essential part of medical marijuana, itâs derived directly from the hemp plant, a sort of cousin to the marijuana plant. The Farm Bill of 2018 legalized industrial hemp as an agricultural commodity and removed it from the list of controlled substances making industrial hemp product, including CBD, legal at the federal level in all 50 states.
The Hemp Farming Act included in the Farm Bill still provides states with the ability to oversee its legality at a state level, however, so itâs important to know your stateâs laws on CBD.
So with its popularity exploding (as many as 14% of Americans saying they use CBD products in 2019), you might have found yourself curious about CBD. How does CBD work? What is it? Do I want CBD oils or edibles? Those are all great questions.
In this Q&A guide for CBD weâre exploring:
We donât want to overwhelm you with information so consider this an introductory guide.
For the CBD curious itâs important to note the differences between CBD vs. THC *and* what is CBD in relation to THC. Both are cannabinoids but an easy way to distinguish between them is by how they make you feel. THC is a psychoactive part of marijuana that gives you a high. CBD, on the other hand, is a non-intoxicating compound and doesnât impair your mind.
Another difference between CBD vs. THC is that CBD by itself wonât show up on a drug test since most are designed to detect THC breakdowns. Broad-spectrum CBD products (which is what hello amber primarily carries, outside of our full spectrum CBD tincture) entirely remove THC during the extraction process whereas full-spectrum CBD products may contain trace amounts of THC (>0.3%). Thereâs also a third kind of CBD offering called CBD isolate where CBD is fully extracted away from all other compounds to present an almost pure CBD product.
Weâll be talking more about what the extraction process is, the pros and cons, and the different CBD types in a future post!
Nope! Go ahead and add that CBD oil to your morning coffee with no fear of accidentally getting high before diving into your projects for the day (or accidentally running into people.)
Since itâs not psychoactive CBD doesnât affect your brain in the same way THC does. Actually, CBD acts as a CB1 antagonist, meaning it can block or inhibit the effects of THC that produce a regular high. Using CBD oil or tinctures may give an uplifting feeling, but itâs not the same as a regular âhigh.â
A report from the World Health Organization has also stated, âIn humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potentialâŚ. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.â
Carrier oil also enhances CBD absorption and makes measuring dosages easier. There are different types of carrier oils each with their own benefits.
There are a variety of ways of ingesting CBD oil depending on what youâre taking it for and what you want to achieve. Itâs great for supporting morning clarity and preparing to take on the day ahead! We love adding CBD oil to our morning coffee (essential for life, right?) and enjoying it as we get ready. You can also add it to a nightcap beverage in the evening as part of a nightly ritual to unwind before bed.
You donât have to put CBD oil in a beverage, though. You can also take it directly sublingually. Taking your CBD oil under the tongue helps it absorb into your bloodstream even more quickly.
How long a CBD product takes to work varies from person to person. Itâll depend on factors like body weight, metabolism, dosage, product quality, and how you take it. CBD oil kicks in the fastest of most CBD products and may be felt within minutes.
CBD edibles may provide similar health benefits to CBD oil but come with their own set of pros and cons.
If adding CBD oil to a drink while on the go or at an office may feel uncomfortable to you, a CBD edible is much more discreet. There are lots of options for CBD edibles from traditional chocolate bars to strawberry lemonade CBD gummies (which we affectionately call Epic Sunset). Keeping in mind the dosage you want is important, though, so choose a CBD edible that is easy to measure out.
When youâre choosing a CBD edible you also need to think of the shelf-life it has. While CBD oil may last for a long time, the lifespan of a CBD edible is only as long as the form it takes. For example, a CBD brownie wonât last as long as a CBD gummy. So think about how frequently you will be using your CBD product before purchasing.
Unlike CBD oil, a CBD edible may take a little longer to kick in (up to an hour). This is great if you need additional time to unwind after a hectic workday and may help you sleep better.
If youâre planning to add CBD to your routine you want to know how long the effects last, right? Figuring out how long CBD lasts in your system will vary from person to person just like how long it takes to kick in. Itâll depend on the method of ingestion (oil, edible, topical, etc.), product quality, the frequency you use CBD products, and how your body reacts with CBD itself.
As a general rule of thumb we say you can expect the effects of CBD to last from 2 to 8 hours. If youâre new to CBD, give it time to start working. Consistent daily use may give the best results when it comes to CBD oil and edibles.
If youâve found yourself curious about CBD, hopefully our Q&A guide answered some of your questions! Determining which products and routines work best for your lifestyle may take a little adjusting, so donât be afraid to give different products a try. Consider using different CBD products at various points in your day like adding CBD oil to your morning coffee to support clarity or a CBD edible after work to unwind for the night. Using CBD products regularly will yield the best results. Luckily for you, we know just where you can find them.
